Summary0004130: Doors w/o handles can be heard opening for a time at mission start
DescriptionNear mission start, if an AI uses a door that has no handles, the sound reaches the player regardless of visportaling (and possibly, distance).

So it "sounds" like faraway doors are right next to the player.
Additional InformationThis has to do with doors that have no handles.

Doors with handles don't exhibit this problem.

As soon as a door the player is supposed to hear is used, the problem stops.

This sounds like an initialization problem, where something is getting cleared at the end of a valid sound that's not initialized at the beginning of the mission, allowing invalid sounds to reach the player.

Since we've had issues with handle-less doors in the past, this might just be 'one more case'.

Attached a test map.

If you remove the door handles from Door10, you'll hear the AI open that door when the mission starts.

You shouldn't hear that.

Once he makes a circuit and opens Door10 again, you won't hear it.

I noticed that, even if the only door in a simple map has alternate door-opening sounds, I'm hearing the default door-opening sound.

When assigning the origin of the sound emitter to play the door open sound, the code was finding that the door origin was in the void, which caused the sound to play at full volume. By using the closed door origin, we get a more accurate location of the door origin, and now we don’t hear the sound.
