Summary0005098: The texture inspoector will not show all the 'in-use' textures.
DescriptionI don't remember having this issue under 2.6 (which I now realize was because there was no search box) -

- Open DR.
- Use as normal for a while
- click on media explorer>
-- only a fraction of your in-use textures are being shown
Steps To ReproduceI have found out what was happening and how it was happening -

- open DR and load a map.
- then click into the search field box in the texture inspector.
- pressing escape doesn't take you out of (or focus away from) the above search box.
- if you click anywhere other that the camera view or orthoview, focus stays with the search box.

I have been pressing escape all this time and not realizing that the bloody cursor was still blinking away in the above search box, bah!
Additional InformationOnly fix is to restart DR

This is a random issue, that again maybe related to the sixe of the map Im working on - although I don't understand why.

Further testing has demonstrated DR 2.7 will do this consistently, since going back to 2.6 the issue has not presented itself.

I'm a bit confused about the screenshot. It shows an empty map and a number of images in the Textures tab, but the option "Hide unused" is indeed set to off. Is this the same problem you describe above ("only a fraction of your in-use textures are being shown")?

I meant that in the texture viewer/inspector, I am seeing a significantly smaller amount (a fraction) of the total textures being shown as in-use by the map I am working on.

I am happy to test the current build and then create a video showing you the issue/behaviour if this will help?

Well, a video might help, maybe it won't - it depends! To fix this it would be nice to have shorter or more concise repro steps. Do I get this right that the problem only occurs after some time or can it maybe appear right after map loading or after a few shorter steps?
 
Generally, I know how to map, but since I'm not working on any mission these days, I cannot follow a repro instruction like "Use as normal for a while" - the directions need to be a bit clearer to me. I cannot just spend half an hour playing around in a map (I don't even have) hoping to run into this - half an hour is almost my entire dev time budget of a whole day!

morning, can you profile a link to the latest copy of DR that has the readable fix in-place, and I will then do some over-time testing to see if if I can narrow down the issue.

Thanks for the video - you've observed this correctly that materials not starting with "textures/" are considered "other materials" and they are hidden in the Textures tab. The code is doing that on purpose, I think it was doing that since even before we forked DarkRadiant off the original GtkRadiant.

If you'd like that to be changed, I can problably add an option to show or hide these "other materials" in the Textures Tab. (But it should go to a different bugtracker entry, of course.)

For now I think this can be closed as 'I think' what has been happening is that I have accidentally clicked on the filename input fiels in the texture inspector (see attached.

I'm now unsure about the problem - you're saying that the focus in the entry box should switch to something else when you hit ESC? How does it relate to the above issue, the texture browser not showing all the textures?
