Summary0001065: Melee Weapons Swung at Short Distance at Flat Wall or Floor Do Not Hit
DescriptionMelee weapons are not registering collisions when you swing at a flat wall directly in front of you, or crouch and swing at the floor directly below you. I believe the problem is that, at close range, the trace model starts out already in contact with the object, which causes the trace to fail.

Possible solution: Detect when the trace starts out already in a solid, and take some action to simulate a collision.

resolved with initial trace to see if we start out colliding

It's still possible to swing and hit nothing when leaning so far into a solid barrier as to put the player's hand on the other side of the solid, but I don't think that's a big deal.
