Summary0000121: Flip X, Flip Y - possible to prevent texture shift?
Descriptiongreebo's going to want to kill me for requesting this, but... :)

Would it be possible to get it so the texture doesn't shift? I'm working with trying to align the inside of an arch, and I'm finding it nearly impossible to even figure out which way is up with this texture. I'm sure a mapper can get it eventually after a number of flips in both direction (because it's not even clear which is X or Y on the inside of an arch looking upward) and scrolling the texture around for a while, but if it's at all possible can we get the texture to stay fixed upon the flip? Low priority, it's nothing urgent.

I kept this request separate from the 'align patch textures' request, because it might not be patches the designer is trying to align.

I assume this is concerning the brush texture flip (as patch textures are preserved in their position after flipping)?

Does it?? I'm really confused with all of this. When I take a simple bevel patch textured as I'd like, partner it with a mirror image one, the textures don't align. So I flip it, and then it's completely different and not aligned either. I understand (somewhat) the difficulties behind this; "for coords to stay fixed, you need a fixed point - which point? edge? which edge? center?"

So, how is this achieved? Is the center fixed on a flip? Is one edge fixed? I never seem to get http://img249.imageshack.us/my.php?image=align5vb1.jpg, but instead always get something like http://img177.imageshack.us/my.php?image=align4kv9.jpg .

Not a perfect example, I know, but it's very confusing to use flip, because there is always a ton of alignment fixing afterward.

??? The two patches are perfectly the same (apart from the numbers), I don't get it?

Mathematically the patch textures are flipped by negating their texture coordinates.

Sorry, my original post indicated to ignore the textures, just pay attention to the numbers, but when I edited it I accidentally erased that part.

I looked into this again today and I think there's not much I can do about anything. Looking at what happens in the UV Editor, everything seems to be working as intended (the texture is staying perfectly at the same place).

Sneaksie, please close/suspend/reopen as you see fit.

I think I forgot about this one. I'd say we can close it, considering all the new capabilities.
