Summary0001319: Menu broke during playtesting
DescriptionDetails are given here:
http://modetwo.net/darkmod/index.php?s=&showtopic=7374&view=findpost&p=165676

During an extended playtesting period, the menu broke, first showing no text and then no text or sound or functionality. Repro is assumed to be just play for a while, eating up memory resources...

I have one case of repro for this (not the original condition, but at least this might help determine the reason):

* Load up TDM and Start Mission (for SL)
* When the images start, immediately hit ESC
* Then you have to have good timing and be fast -- try to match the moment the Objectives screen comes up with an immediate press of ESC again.

If you time it just right, you will get back to the main menu (the Thief) with no text or link mouseover sounds. Apparently something is getting interrupted mid-process.

I could fix the repro in the note above. There must be some kind of conflicting ESC-handling code in the closed source, or I'm missing something else here.

Hitting ESC in between briefing and objectives should be ok now.

Okay, will try. Note that Fidcal duplicated it here:

Looks like this is still a problem; SH's report in 0001375 describes similar behavior.

We've had enough iterations of this that it has changed from this original entry, and is largely (if not completely at this point) resolved. If anything new comes down the pipe, it needs a new, specific entry, so this is closed.
