Summary0001427: Short zombie ragdoll crashes game when smacked with melee weapon
DescriptionI was messing around my map with an atdm:ai_undead_zombie_short in it. I killed it, hit its body with the blackjack and it fly up in the air in some random direction really fast. This happened with every hit.

Than I slashed it with my sword and it crashed the game. I started it back up and tried it again with the blackjack and it crashed once again.

If someone else could try to reproduce this to see if this happens to all, or theres just something kooky with my map.

You can download my map I used for this on the betamapper repository under

Upon further inspection, it seems that whacking the torso causes the ragdoll to fly. Smacking the legs and arms don't seem to trigger it.

Also, its mainly the sword that causes the crash. But sometimes the blackjack will do it.

Have you updated to get the latest pk4 from SVN? They shouldn't be flying away anymore, that should have been fixed a couple days ago. If you were accidentally hitting the floor when it crashed, that should also be fixed.

I'm pretty sure I have. Tortoise SVN tells me that the revision is complete. I'll rerun the update on both computers and see what happens.

Crashes again. I killed him the sword, he flew up, than I blackjacked his torso and it crashed.

Last night I tested spawning atdm:ai_undead_monster_zombie_short in test/mantle and neither of those things happened. I'll try downloading your specific map later to see if that changes things.

Oh, also, are you sure SVN is switched to the Saint Lucia branch? http://modetwo.net/darkmod/index.php?showtopic=8328

I don't think the fixes are merged into the trunk branch yet.

No, I am not on the SL branch. I guess I missed the memo, but it doesn't matter because I'm not working with the SL branch. So if thats the case than this issue should be closed right? I'll retry once SL is released and the trunk changes have merged over.

You could switch over only the darkmod.pk4 file to SL branch and test again under the same conditions in your map. I don't _think_ there was anything else changed that's dependent on the pk4 that would cause a problem.

This should be resolved, but should probably verify that it works under the exact conditions where you were getting the crash before to be sure.

I'll just wait for SL to release. Have you tried my map yet?

Since SL release, I have tested this and it no longer happens. This is resolved.

When resolving an issue, you have to set the status to "resolved" as well as setting the resolution to "fixed", otherwise it'll still show up as an open issue. :-)

I've now done so for you, for this issue. I'm setting it to resolved rather than closed because I haven't verified the fix myself.
