Not sure if this one applies, but it seems to, from my install: remember to link .exe to the darkradiant icon (the gear thingy). I had to associate the icon with these updated SVN .exes by hand. |

You mean that the icon is contained within the .exe file? |

No, I have: darkradiant.ico darkradiant.exe in my folder. With the 0.8.1 installation, the executable shortcut, on my desktop, has the icon picture. With all SVN snapshots, the executable shortcut (also on my desktop) is not associated with the icon until I told it specifically to do so. I thought maybe the link between the two was broken. |

That's expected, because the installation package creates the shortcut along with the according icon for you automatically, which does not happen when you just copy the .exe from the snapshot builds. As the icon is not contained within the .exe file per se, there is no way to know for Windows which icon it should actually use (hence you'd have to do this yourself - as for 0.8.1, this step is conveniently done for you by the installer). Maybe there is a way to pack the icon into the compiled .exe, but I don't know (yet). |

Theoretically it should be possible to have an icon contained within an EXE, but I have never found any free and functional software that allows this to be done. |

I noticed that there is a new GTK release 2.10.12 which has a fix for notebook tab rendering in its changelog. This might be worth investigating before the next release. |
