DescriptionWhen opening DR, there seems to be no possible way to edit anything, as I cannot see any map when I try to open one, imagine that the areas where the overhead map and the frame beside it are completely see through, because I can see all the windows behind it. Maybe this isn't a glitch, if not, you can ban me =P. It is either an embarrassing bug or an embarrassing mistake...

Can you show me the contents of the help dialog, where the graphics card manufacturer and opengl extensions are shown? This sounds rather like a driver issue as the OpenGL windows obviously fail to initialise.

Yes, help dialog? I know for a fact that my Laptop is an inspiron 1525, and the opengl drivers have been untouched. If you need more information, I'll be near my laptop later, maybe then I can give you more details...

Hm, I don't spot anything, though I must admit that I don't know the actual required extensions by heart.

I notice that you're running an Intel card, though I cannot say whether this is a problem. I'd suggest trying to upgrade your drivers, maybe it's an issue specific to the card/driver combination, but I understand that this is a hassle for you.

Oh my, this sounds like too much. Say, can you come over to my house and help me install the drivers... =))

Actually, I just installed the latest drivers a little bit ago, and, sadly, nothing happened, I'm in the same state as I was when the drivers were older...

I think that it might just be that darkradiant has a problem with my intel 965gm gpu... which bites bad...

Haha, I expected somebody to bring that up. Despite what most people think, the 965gm graphics card is actually not given any justice. Simply set an application to run in realtime, and use this hack to change a few things around for the games rendering system: http://www.scribd.com/doc/445736/Doom-3-Speed-Up-Guaranteed-40-Better (Heck, Half Life 2 works even better... and tho I haven't tried it myself, I recently heard that the gpu would meet the bare minimum standard requirements of Crysis, with a few parts frame-jumping, of course)

I tried using the texture cache in the doomconfig file, but the game would crash when I tried using it.

Well, you're over-estimating our options to address this, I think. :)

As I don't have access to any notebook with that kind of graphics card, let alone installing my debugging environment on there, what do you expect me to do? I'm not even sure I can do anything about it, whether it isn't a driver issue or something else in our code.

Does GtkRadiant work on your system?

Sorry, its just that I understand the budget (there is none) of these type of projects, and its best I let the development team carry on and maybe they'll indirectly reverse these problems in later releases, or someone who has my built in gpu with more experience will help...

... Let me try gtkradiant and get back to you on that, though.

When you open DarkRadiant, open the console do you have any warnings in the console window? Just a thought

Also my version of OpenGL is 3.0, you are running 1.5.0, can you find updated OpenGL drivers?

You have an inspiron 1525 (or at least an intel 965gm)? I find that a little strange, as I cant seem to find any drivers for my computer that upate opengl beyond 1.5

the utility was of no help. It sent me straight back to dell, whose driver I had already installed was of no help before, and connecting the dots, I doubt it would help to try again...

Oh, it runs a bit deeper... the built in doom 3 editor accessed through the in-game console is also experiencing a similar problem, though swap clear with white.

Hmm, well I did find something that might work: GLDirect, which had been shareware for a while, but was later released as free. However, when I installed it, I needed the registration key the creators supplied when they abandoned it: Check! But when trying to enter the keycode, it said it was wrong even though I'm certain it's the correct key. After all, I've found it everywhere...

Oh well, if somebody could try that program out, could they send it's unlocked executable my way? It's not like that would be illegal, as it's creators have long since made it free.
