Summary | 0001771: Need minimum time (or some control method) between barks of different alert levels
Description | This is closely related to 0001139 (which might actually be addressed at this point; I haven't checked specifically at time of tracking this). However in contrast to the former, this one probably requires a more complex approach. The problem in a nutshell is that as an AI is changing alert levels (e.g. from 1-2 and 2 back to 1), he'll comment; if the player is keeping them very close to the boundary between levels, they'll bark very frequently, and even cut themselves off mid-sentence (a good thing, but not this rapidly). It ends up sounding more like they are stuck or schizophrenic: "Hm! What was that noise!/Tis surely my/Hm! What was that noi/Twas not but/That sound...!" To repro this issue easily, place a guard on metal facing away (or make him blind) and then simply walk, sneak, or crawl past him. He'll keep switching between alert levels 0 and 1, over and over, barking very often. Not really sure what to suggest; any measure put in place will certainly affect gameplay.

How did Thief handle this issue, I wonder?
Is this still an issue? | |
I'm marking this as resolved, given the extensive bark work done in 2.00.
