Summary0002958: Zombies bashing doors?
DescriptionCould zombies be given some kind of bash door animation rather than a simple open one? The code would work the same way but it would give the illusion of breaking the door open. Depends if the time delay for doors is hard-coded or called with a frame command.

No, it looks like the door-handling is hard-coded, as well as the animation, so this wouldn't really work.

Is this more than:

Not using a door queue.

Slamming the door open by increasing rotation speed.

Adding a "smash_door" animation.

Disallowing opening the door if it opens toward the zombie. (We could have him smash the door down regardless of direction, but that would probably involve creating damaged doors for each door model.)

Disallowing opening the door if it's anything other than wood. (stone, metal, etc.)

I suspect it's ultimately a kettle of worms that isn't worth opening. I hadn't even thought of doors that open towards the zombie. Zombies don't open doors by default anyway.

They might not open doors by default, but they do look silly when set so they can. (Glenham Tower)

I'm in favor of them (by default) treating a closed door like a wall: can't get through. Letting them batter open a door leads to letting them smash a window or wall.

If it's important to mappers that they can open doors, then they'll have to live with it looking silly, I guess.
