Summary | 0000628: When swimming, the player can swim too high up on top of (out of) the water | ||||
Description | When most people swim along or tread water, their eye level is less than 1 foot above the water, but right now in the mod the player view can get up to 2 1/2 feet above the water (nearly 32 units). When you swim up to that max height the game bumps you back down a bit but not much. Currently the upward bouyancy doesn't raise the player view this high, only about 8 units above water (or less than a foot), which is natural and correct, good. A real swimmer can lunge up higher momentarily, but I think the 2 1/2 feet is still perhaps too high, and even if the height is kept it should only work with momentum swimming up to sort of jump out of the water a bit. Right now you can slowly meander up to the 2 1/2 feet. | ||||

Yes, it does look a little weird the player can raise this high out of water. However, I am a little worried that fixing this might break some maps. Does anyone know a map where you have to mantle a comparatively high ledge right out of the water? Additionally, the height limit of the upward bouyancy should be increased because currently it stops right at that awkward spot, where the "underwater" effect stops but the surface is not yet full visible, see attached screenshot. |

Cancelled because altering this could break existing maps because the mantle distance would not be reachable. | |
