| Description | Previous, the Stone 24pt font was upgraded and completed to support, for instance, subtitles. Attention turns here to the 48pt set, invoked with GUI textscale of 0.30+. For translation purposes, the "english" Stone 48pt font has a number of shortcomings. For an FM, these will likely affect - - popup overlay messages, using tdm_message_no_art. The GUI for that has a textscale of 0.31, so invokes 48pt. - Sign decals. - the title blocks of certain readables based on Stone. Shortcomings include stray marks, glyph clippinng, and missing i18n characters. It is proposed, during 2026, to fully analyze, repair, and complete Stone 48pt, targeting TDM 2.15 | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | During i18n review with FM AirPocket (actually testAirPocketMessages), problems noted in passing were... Missing characters*.: "ń" (0x9c in TDM charmap), Example: Polish (in AirPocket message 5) "ș" (0x9d in TDM charmap). Examples: Romanian msg 3, 7 "ț" (0x9e in TDM charmap). Examples: ditto Probably upper case of these, at 8c, 8d, 8e, are also missing "å" (e5 in TDM charmap). Examples: Danish, most msg Other problems: "ñ" (0xf1 in TDM charmap) tilde poorly rendered (kinda with dots) and stray mark dot to left above. Examples: Spanish, Czech. "j" has stray dot to left at baseline. Examples: Czech "a j" between; Catalan "s j" between (prob msg 6). "ť" (t with accent, 0xb6 in TDM charmap) has stray dot to left top. Examples: Slovak msg 2, with stray dot above preceding "ù" (0xf9). "o with umlaut" (probably "ö", 0xf6 in TDM charmap. Similar: 0xf5, 0xb9). 2 stray marks to left. Examples: Swedish msg 7. Turkish msg 3 "ó" (0xf3 in TDM charmap) clipped on right, stray mark to left, low mid-char. Examples: Catalan msg 6 "co" stray mark within c. "ò" (0xf2 in TDM charmap) clipped on right, stray stroke to left. Example: Catalan "ro" stray mark below r arm. ae ligature mapping to "c" *(In planned AirPocket i18n 2026Q1 release, base character without accent will be substituted.) | Additional Information | Note: Stone 48pt does not appear to be used routinely in the Main Menu system. (It is possible that if one of the small text scale slider in HUD Settings is scaled way up, the invoking of Stone 24pt could be replaced by 48pt for Loot, Inventory, Inventory Grid, and other HUD elements. Too much work to analyze, but quick experiment didn't clearly show any 48pt use.) Please assign this to Geep. It is lower priority than the companion "Improvements to Carleton 24pt Font". | ||||
