Summary | 0000889: Yippee! sound for picking lock
Description | Just so we don't forget. ;)
Tags | No tags attached. | ||||
It's replaced by a sparkly magic sound. Unless we're turning TDM into Zelda, it isn't really an improvement.
I assume we don't need a sound at all, as the sound of the unlocking door is signaling success anyway.
I know when I was testing that I found a success sound somewhat helpful, as it made it clear that you had finished the whole lock, as opposed to just another tumbler (if you have it set so the unlocked door opens automatically you wouldn't need that, but not everyone will use that option). Doesn't have to be the particular sound I set, but there should be some distinctive sound to indicate overall success, I think.
That's what I meant, basically: doors make a distinctive sound when being unlocked by a key. I assume this sound will be recognised by players quickly enough and they'll understand that they have successfully picked the locked.
I can't recall, but don't we have something similar to Thief's familiar ka-chunk sound when you finished unlocking picking a door? That by itself could be enough of a signal if any func_door doesn't have a handle attached to it.
Yes, after testing I agree this isn't needed. You can hear the 'unlocking' sound of the door playing at the same time as the 'success' sound.
Sound is removed. | |
